NOVA SCOTIA HOUSE wins prestigious Lambda Literary Award 2026

Congratulations to Charlie Porter for this important recognition. The winners of the 38th Annual Lambda Literary Awards were announced in New York on 12 June 2026, having been selected by a panel of 80 literary professionals from more than 1,300 book submissions from over 300 publishers.

This is a beautiful culmination to all the very special things that have been happening for Charlie Porter’s debut novel since it was published in the UK (Penguin Press) and US (Nightboat) last year. A shortlisting for the Goldsmith’s Award for experimental fiction, many weeks as a top seller in independent bookshops, a spot in Jack Edward’s highly successful book club Inklings … On Friday 26 June, the singer Tom Rasmussen will release a live recording of his track ‘Joy’, performed at the Union Chapel in Islington last November, where Charlie joins them on stage midway through to read a section from Nova Scotia House that refers to ‘Queer Magic’, the subject of Charlie’s next non-fiction project.
