Chiara's first non-fiction book, Aqua: A History of Water and Lost Dreams, has been recently published by Canongate in the UK and Einaudi in Italy, and will be published by Unnamed Press in the US on 14 April. Aqua blends travel writing, philosophy, cultural history and memoir to explore how water altered LA and the history of film. It has received fantastic reviews, with Olivia Laing calling it "Outrageously good [...] an unforgettable book", and it was named a Best Book of the Year for 2025 by the Times Literary Supplement.

Chiara's debut novel, Things That Happened Before the Earthquake (Doubleday US, 2017), a coming-of-age story about an Italian teenager uprooted from Rome and transported to 90s LA, was a Best Book of the Year for VogueEsquireElleBustle, and the Guardian, and a best summer book for The New York TimesPublisher’s WeeklyBBC, and Oprah! magazine.

RCL will be handling all unsold rights for both books. We're really looking forward to working with the brilliant Chiara, and helping to bring her future work into the world.
