Right on time for the US publication day of The Frozen People, it has been announced that Elly Griffiths will be awarded the 2025 Theakston Old Peculier Outstanding Contribution Award at the opening night of the Theakston Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival on 17 July.
Simon Theakston, chairman of T&R Theakston, said:
“Elly Griffiths has been awarded the Theakston Old Peculier Outstanding Contribution award in recognition of her exceptional contribution to crime fiction, captivating readers with her distinctive characters, rich sense of place and unwavering commitment to the genre over a remarkable career.
Beloved by readers around the world, Elly Griffiths has an amazing ability to combine tough subjects with the greatest warmth. Her characters may have their eccentricities, but they are all believable and their dilemmas as easy to share.”
Today is the launch date for the US edition of The Frozen People, published by editor Jeramie Orton at Pamela Dorman Books/Penguin Random House US. This is the first time that Penguin US have published Elly Griffiths, who has moved to Jeramie Orton at Pamela Dorman Books for her new Ali Dawson time-travelling detective series. The second book in the series The Killing Time will be published next year.
The US edition has a strikingly different cover to the UK edition and it's going to be fun to see how it goes down.
It is already gathering high praise from US booksellers and early readers and reviewers.
