CALL ME ISHMAELLE longlisted for 2026 Jhalak Prize

The Jhalak Prize has revealed its 2026 longlists, and RCL author Xiaolu Guo’s novel, Call Me Ishmaelle , has been longlisted for the Prose Prize.

This year marks 10 years of the prize, which celebrates "the creativity, imagination and scholarly achievements of writers of colour in the United Kingdom and Ireland".

The shortlist will be announced on 14 April and the winners will be announced on 10 June.

The paperback of Call Me Ishmaelle is out now from Vintage.
