Happy Publication to THE ORIGINAL

Nell Steven's The Original was launched in the UK (by Scribner) on 19 June, and in the US (by Norton) on 1 July. The UK launch was accompanied by a very special 'in conversation' between Nell and Olivia Laing at the LRB Bookshop, where the two writers talked fascinatingly about the relationship between writing, fakery and authenticity - and Nell described her complicated relationship to the Victorian novel and how she is trying to write her way out of it.

Since then the book has been receiving rave reviews from the likes of Lara Feigel in the Guardian and Miranda Seymour in the Financial Times.

It has also been a hit with BookTokers on both sides of the Atlantic.

Nell took a break from working on her new novel (which won't be set in the nineteenth century) to write this excellent piece on art fraud for the Guardian

We are starting to stack up translation rights sales for this brilliant novel. Next stop - the silver screen?
